In January 2005, Cimarron Trailers® went into partnership with USDA Rural Development, Consumer Credit Counseling of Oklahoma, Fannie Mae, Rural Enterprises, Washita Mortgage and Century 21 Real Estate in order to help their employees become homeowners. The program that was initiated includes a forgivable loan from the company, homebuyer education and also credit counseling if needed. “Home ownership is still the American Dream,” said Michael Terry, who, along with Lynn Terry, owns Cimarron Trailers® in Chickasha. “Owning a home will instill pride and a sense of community in our employees. We want to invest in our employees and help improve the quality of life for them and their families.” Cimarron Trailers®, located in Chickasha, manufactures custom aluminum trailers and currently employs 125 workers. ![]() December 30, 2005 - Congrats Ben & Jody Janssen Over the Holiday Ben & Jody Janssen competed in a Booger Barter Productions Roping Competition in Glen Rose, TX and won 6th Place. February 3, 2005 - News Article Published Chickasha Employer Looking to Improve Employees’ Lives Assuming an employee shows up for work and does their job in a sufficient manner, most employers believe their responsibility has ended when they sign a paycheck. Michael and Lynn Terry, owners of Cimarron Trailers ® in Chickasha, have an entirely different philosophy about employer-employee relations. The Terrys believe that the better you treat an employee, the more loyal that employee will be in terms of longevity and productivity. It’s called Win-Win in the business world. It was this philosophy which led the Terrys to build a partnership with USDA Rural Development, Consumer Credit Counseling of Oklahoma, Fannie Mae, Rural Enterprises, Washita Mortgage and Century 21 Real Estate to help their employees become homeowners. “Home ownership is still the American Dream,” said Mike Terry. “Owning a home will instill pride and a sense of community in our employees. We want to invest in our employees and help improve the quality of life for them and their families.” After conducting an initial housing survey, the Terrys learned that the two main obstacles for home ownership were lack of financial resources for down payments and closing costs and credit problems. The program that the Terrys have initiated include a forgivable loan from the company, credit counseling and homebuyer education to help employees improve their credit score and gain knowledge of the home buying procedure. The program was presented to Cimarron employees on Wednesday, January 26th with partner representatives present from all of the participating agencies. “We are thrilled and encouraged that so many of our employees are interested in home ownership,” said Mr. Terry. “By the end of the day on Wednesday, 28 employees had requested information packets.” “The Grady County Economic Development Council and the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce would like to applaud the Terrys for their commitment to their employees,” said Marilyn Feaver, Chamber/EDC President. “This program will improve the quality of life indicators for our city, and we hope that other employers in our county will follow the example of Cimarron Trailers ®. Oftentimes, matching funds are available through the Employer Assisted Homeownership Program and it is something we should promote at every opportunity.” When asked why the Terrys are so interested in helping their employees in such an unconventional manner, Mr. Terry responded, “Cimarron Trailers ® has been successful beyond our wildest dreams and we want to share this success with those that have made it all possible our employees are truly part of our extended family.”
